ECMC Group, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit focused on helping students succeed, has donated 650 Chromebooks to Jeremiah Program to support single mothers on their education journey. Jeremiah Program, a Minneapolis-based national nonprofit, focuses on disrupting the cycle of poverty two generations at a time and will provide the technology to single mothers using its programs. The donation is part of a $500,000 gift of more than 2,000 Chromebooks to several nonprofit organizations across the country, including strategic partners in ECMC Group’s Minneapolis headquarters location like Jeremiah Program.

“As we seek to improve access, persistence and completion of educational programs among underserved communities, Jeremiah Program is a clear partner with the work they do to transform lives for single mothers,” said Dan Fisher, president and CEO of ECMC Group. “Technology has become a basic need during this time, and we know this donation will support individuals who make a true difference in our society.”

According to Jeremiah Program,100% of mothers in their programs have the option to receive a tablet when they enter the Empowerment & Leadership course, a 12-week cohort-based customized experience that invites all moms to reassert their role as experts in their own lives and leaders in their communities.

“The importance of technology continues to grow as a critical aspect of Jeremiah Program’s programming,” said Chastity Lord, president and CEO of Jeremiah Program. “The generous donation provided by ECMC Group has strengthened our communication, knowledge sharing, operations and ability to scale our reach during an urgent time of need. Jeremiah Program is at a pivotal growth moment, and these tablets will help our moms pursue economic mobility inside and outside the classroom. When a mother can invest simultaneously in herself and her children, she can re-author her family’s outcomes and act as a change agent within her community.”
