Josh Slayton, senior vice president of business development, research and innovation for ECMC Group, has been appointed to the board of directors of EdNorth. ECMC Group is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit corporation with a mission to help students succeed through programs promoting financial literacy, college access and college completion.
"Our history with ECMC Group underlines our shared support of innovation in education and training," said Steve Wellvang, president of EdNorth. "Josh brings a wealth of knowledge in strategic planning and leadership that will help us fulfill our mission."
EdNorth focuses on supporting entrepreneurs through regular networking, collaboration and learning opportunities, as well as helping build and connect the local educational entrepreneurial ecosystem to the business and academic community. The organization's vision is to create a collaborative and connected ecosystem where people across education and training disciplines can work together to discuss challenges, explore innovative strategies, and implement creative and effective solutions for global opportunities in education and training.
"I'm excited to continue ECMC Group's partnership with EdNorth and support their work to highlight grassroots education innovation through collaboration," said Slayton. "Being a larger part of their work will allow ECMC Group to continue to build strategic alliances with a strong and growing education industry in the Twin Cities and a great network of investors, operators and entrepreneurs."
ECMC Group has partnered with EdNorth since 2018, when the two organizations collaborated to support MN Cup's Education and Training Division. The two organizations again kicked off the 2019 MN Cup in April at ECMC Group's office in Minneapolis.
